Leeds 400 Anniversary Weekend: A reminder that to commemorate 400 years since Leeds received its first Royal Charter on 13 July 1626, a weekend of events is taking place this week.
Highlights include:
11th July:
- Party in the Park, in celebration of the Northern School of Contemporary Dance’s 40th birthday
12th July:
- a free Birthday Picnic with live music in City Square; and
- a City Celebration and Civic Service is being held at Leeds Minster, hosted by the Lord Mayor of Leeds (note this is a ticketed event);
13 July:
- The People’s History of Leeds book launch at Left Bank.
