Lawnswood Roundabout Update

8th July 2026

Outside Weetwood Hall the road crossing points have been installed so that power can be installed safely. Sewer connection works will being soon in this area.

Outside Lawnswood School progress is being made with footpath works, including installing a dished drainage channel behind the kerbing. Signal pole installation is ongoing in this area, along with pathway edging works.

By the Police station work continues north towards the station exit, preparing for kerb installations. Temporary traffic lights at the crossing point have been removed so that footpath works can start.

During August and into early September there will be substantial carriageway works, firstly to prepare the subsurface of the new roadways, which will take place in sections around the roundabout, on all 4 approaches. These will be sequenced works and will involve diversions whilst the closures are in place.

These works are now required to be completed at night, which will mean night works from Mondays –Fridays so that there is no disruption to Leeds events, including the Iron Man and Leeds Festival weekends. The final surfacing works are scheduled for early September and will require full overnight closures of the roundabout and all approaches.
