On Monday night Cllr Stoddart-Scott dropped into Pool Village Hall to talk to Yorkshire Water about the mains replacement works.

A team that handle capital projects for Yorkshire Water were on hand and very helpful in explaining what is going to happen and when.
They pointed out that whilst there is an official diversion published and sign posted by the highways Department (from Harewood Bridge all the way back around to Pool Bridge via Huby and Weeton) it is aimed at arterial traffic and HGVs. Locals like us are expected to find their own routes around the works, which will be constantly and moving and will be open some days but maybe not others.
Plus whilst there are published road closure periods, that does not mean the road will be closed 100% of the time. But they cannot guarantee when it will be open.
So allow more time, sometimes you will be lucky and get through, whilst others you will not!
The road will be closed in sections with the closure moving as the work progresses:
- 21st July – 9th August from the White Hart to The Beeches
- 10th August – 28th August Oakdale Drive to Stondale Close
The road will be open for the August Bank Holiday Weekend, Then in a second phase work will be carried out using traffic lights:
- 1st September – 5th December The Beeches to Stonedale Close
- 5th December – 16th December Stonedale Close to Tower Drive
Yorkshire water does have a scheme to compensate any business owners how may have their bottom line impacted by the works. They have provided a letter outlining this scheme which you can download below:
